Accelerator and Hall Status

Overall beam quality over the weekend was good.

  • (Accelerator) No major events.
  • (Hall) Litany of minor DAQ problems all of which Alexandre has quickly resolved.
  • (Hall) Data storage/moving issues. Bob is currently working on this [1] [2] [3] [4].
  • (Hall) Plastic absorber test by Bodgan successful [5] [6] [7] [8].
    • Current increased on LD2 to 10uA and LH2 to 12uA.

Run Plan

Continue taking production data. :) We are currently in Cycle 7.

Opportunistic Access Requests

  • [Ralph] Timing hodoscope (remove card which will stay in hall).
  • [Maria/Todd] GRINCH (Could use any reasonable amount of time).
  • [Holly or anyone qualified] Escorted access to get a visual inspection of the INFN JO GEM.
    • Would require a extended down (Holly lives ~20 minutes away, OWL is okay).
  • Removal of INFN J2 from Hall [Jessie has been contacted about this; will be completed over winter break barring an opportunistic access before then].
  • [Sebastian] BB Trigger (Trig ref) and check TDC channels

Unresolved Issues

  • [Resolution underway] Hodoscope HV alarms going off [9]; I created a HALOG entry and tagged Ralph/Rachael [10]. Apparent repeat of issue on 11/25 [11]. Ralph came in to double check the issue and make sure it wasn’t a hodoscope hardware problem. Ralph will be coordinating with Stephen Wood on a resolution.

Subsystem Updates (From Meeting)

  1. HCal
    1. HV crate drop to zero resolved by soft reset [12] [13]. Shift crew is asked to call HCAL expert if this happens again.
  2. BBCal
    1. Nothing of note.
  3. Timing Hodoscope
    1. ...
  4. GRINCH
    1. [Brad] Establish plan for GRINCH data taking (<1hr, would need DAQ expert as well).
      1. If this is completed this evening GRINCH experts must be present to drive the brief data taking.
  5. GEMS
    1. Transient HV readings.
    2. Xinzhan requested we determine if the trip timing threshold can be reduced under 0.1 sec. Xinzhan has emailed Stephen Wood about this.
      1. It appears that the CAEN the INFN chambers use is capable of a trip dwell time of 0.1 sec.
      2. UV GEMS capable of a 1ms trip dwell time.
    3. Sparking noted on X/Y GEM once, U/V GEM twice... should HV be lowered by 50V? No consensus on whether or not the HV drop is needed.
  6. Beamline
    1. Unser calibration analysis coming along; will possibly be done this week.
  7. Replay analysis
    1. Modifications made to 50K replay.
    2. Transition to analysis needs to be made...
    3. Andrew has compiled to-do list for experts and responsible parties.

Other Items

Email from Bogdan to Jessie about production of new cover for a BB size vacuum window made from 1/8" Al plate to be installed with a request to complete this on the next RF recovery day. Email was CC'd to Alex, Brian, Andrew, Eric and myself.
