Agenda

  1. A_LL Pass 0 replay - Gary
  1. GEn Inelastic Background Contributions - Jacob

Attendance

Minutes

Gary:

  • replays happened for A_LL runs but need to be redone
  • calibrate later
  • SBS GEMs on and physics master 1
  • data available on volatile
  • approx 350M events total according to run list

Jacob:

  • W cut on kin4? What masses to consider? 1.43GeV is critical
  • this is all done using only BB side, should now consider SBS side
  • fraction: (# events for a process) / (total # events pass cut)
  • should Gordon reach out to Bosted? probably?
  • value M refers to specific resonance
  • events are cross section weighted
  • what fraction is elastic? further step
    • add M = mass of proton
    • can take fermi motion into account later
  • next step should be to include a dy anti cut and compare inelastic contributions
  • results from papers do NOT include fermi motion (free neutron and free proton)

From Jacob - How I computed the fraction is by:

  1. Start with a standard set of kinematic variables that come from simulation
  2. Compute cross section from this standard list
  3. Construct a histogram for one of the kinematic variables, and weight it by the cross section
  4. Sum up all of the bins from this histogram for a particle cross section, call sum_i
  5. Sum up all of the sums for a given process (this will be the total number of bins for the whole cross-section), call it sum_tot
  6. Divide each individual summed histogram by the total sum and that is your fraction (sum_i/sum_tot)=f_i where f_i is the fraction I put in the table
