Current Status

On the accelerator side:

--> Yesterday Ops took some time to verify/work on the Injector setup (A got included in anticipation of our Hall lockup tomorrow) and then they spent some time on the Injector - North Linac matching and beam transport in the machine. This was primarily done to address issues Ops have been seeing in the last few days with large beam losses. This morning it was reported that the A beam interception in particular is rather large so this morning time was taken to address this issue (the infamous solenoids between the gun and booster were tweaked to increase the A beam transmission). Ops is setting up Hall A for 2-pass running to the dumplet today.

On the Hall side:

--> After latest adjustments to the downstream beam pipe elements the Survey&Alignment group came into the hall this morning to survey the alignment of the downstream beam line. It looked good. https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4278098

--> Dave Meekins started the target cooldown at around 11 am. We arranged for TOs during swing and owl as we expect to have H and D condensed by then, if all goes well. Many thanks to Roberto and Evaristo for signing up for the TO shifts.

--> Scott B. from PSS is in the hall right now working on finishing up the installation of the Target and Target_Downstream Ion chambers. He also needs to complete HCO for the 3 out of 4 SBS correctors and one other Ion Chamber. https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4278105

--> DC Power will do HCO once Dave Meekins is done cooling down the target. Ops will execute the DC Power HCO procedure. The Hall A RC will be available for assisting with the hall sweep to put the hall in power permit as soon as Dave Meekins is done with his work (this is expected to happen sometime late swing).

--> Ellen is in the process of checking out the SBS and BB magnets.

--> Fe analyzer not in yet; Lawrence may put it in, if there's time before the hall lock up.

--> Active analyzer ready to be cabled by Bogdan once the SBS and BB magnet tests are done.

As of now the plan is for Lawrence to complete the Hall lock up check list tomorrow morning-ish and obtain the run certificate. We are shooting for requesting a sweep of the Hall sometime towards the end of the day shift to start the running of GEN_RP.

Current Run Plan

  • Target cooldown in progress. Roberto and Evaristo available to sit in as TOs during Swing and Owl, respectively, once H and D are condensed.
  • Lawrence & team will complete the hall lock up checklist tomorrow and Patrizia and Ed will do a walkthrough in Hall A to issue the run certificate.
  • We need to be ready for beam by sometime on Friday.
