Hall-A
Beam permit
Status of Hall A
- We backed out of the Moller measurement due to Q4 issues (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4375927). The Moller group will wait to see what DC power has to say about the Q4 issues and we will reschedule another attempt sometime next week (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4375942). After that, unfortunately, due to a broken compressor in the Hall A beam dump nitrogen system, we couldn't get any beam during swing and owl shifts. Facilities was able to address the issue (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4376064) and we are currently waiting for MCC to get a go ahead to send us the beam. The plan is to get back to production running at 10 uA, revisit the stability and capability of our detectors and then move to a higher beam current (15 uA?) if possible.
Access requests and special runs
- Need to survey and get an FADC out of the hall.
- Moller measurement will be scheduled sometime next week

- SBS magnet current stability/overheating test: Plane dropped
Shifts
All set for this week
Run plan when MCC sends beam back
- Follow beam restoration procedure to the Hall
- Short run plan
* 10uA beam until next decision to go to a higher beam current (15 uA)
- For higher current up to 50 uA, MCC needs to be notified a few days early
Beam Restoration Procedure
- Use new "cross target" (1x1 mm "+" shape) for beam restoration as described in https://sbs.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/HOW_TOs#Beam_Recovery_Procedure_for_GEp
Beam requirements
- start off at 5 pass beam
- intrinsic beam size (at target): 150–500 µm (<600 µ m is also acceptable)
- raster size: 2 mm X 2 mm
- During kin#3 SBS magnet will be at 1762.23 Amp, the corrector magnets at -80A for all.
- production run @ 5-10 µA for now
- For later
- production beam current : 50 µA
