Current Status
- The accelerator is having a hard time transporting beam through the machine without significant losses. They think it's related to the injector setup and/or the matching between the injector and the north linac. This morning the injector people worked on the injector setup. Jay proposed that the Wien filter be turned off to help with the injector setup/NL matching. There will be some effect on the beam polarization that halls will see but it's not significant enough to affect the physics. Stay tuned. Update (12:29 --> Wien angle set to zero)
- Yesterday Dave Meekins and the techs worked on aligning the target scattering chamber exit with the downstream beam pipe via the DP beam line piece by raising the downstream beam pipe portion that connects to the DP beam line piece. Survey and alignment came in this morning and they completed the downstream beam line survey. Here is a summary of the results [1]. Few people have to weigh in whether the current downstream beam line alignment is good enough to run.
- As of 11 am when I spoke with Lawrence and Dave Meekins the target cool down has been pushed to tomorrow morning to give time to Robin to look over the downstream beam line survey results.
- Jiwan is working on replacing the base of a noisy PMT in HCAL.
- The GEM group requested about 2 hours access to the SBS platform to work on the SBS GEMs. Lawrence approved that.
- Ellen will be working on testing the magnets today sometime in the afternoon.(?)
- Lawrence and the techs need to find time to insert the Fe analyzer between the GEM planes. Lawrence estimates this would be a few hours job.
- Re-positioning of the front and back scin bars on the SBS side - clarification.
- Silviu updated the Ops restrictions for Hall A; let's take a look during the RC meeting today.
- Scott from PSS will be installing the target downstream ICs tomorrow morning.
- Need the hall controlled access checklist from Lawrence.
- Adam from MCC (Hall A contact) e-mailed Dave Meekins about the target information need for MCC to make the current Hall A target configuration available for running.
- Need the run certificate and the yellow binder.
Current Run Plan
- Target cooldown starts tomorrow morning.
- Need to find out from Lawrence how long it would take to have the hall ready for lock up.
- We hope to be ready for beam sometime on Friday.
Notices in Effect for Shift Crew
- For controlled access call the RC and together you will fill out the Hall access checklist. Lawrence is working on producing this checklist. Will post to the SBS wiki, the RC daily meeting page and print copies for the counting house when checklist available.
